About the NCK Tech Intranet

In the Beginning:

1995

Internet access was available for a few select Departments (Administration & Advanced Computer Technology) on the Beloit campus.  The connection was on a 512k frame-relay.  A few lucky Departments had modem (28.8k) access.

1996

Internet access was brought to the Hays campus Administration building only.  The connection was on a 512k frame-relay.  The Automotive and Nursing buildings did not have Internet access at that time.

1996 – 1999

Beloit campus was networked with Fiber between buildings

1999

NCKTC Intranet (http://home.ncktc.tec.ks.us) was developed by college’s IT staff.  It’s primary purpose was to provide information for the IT staff to quickly access files and IP information to work on computers on the Beloit and Hays campuses.

1999 – 2000

Auto West and the Med Arts buildings were added to the Hays campus.  Nursing, Medical Arts, Auto West and Auto East buildings networked with fiber.

2000

The NCKTC Intranet grew into an information provider for all faculty, staff and students.  Online computer help requests forms were developed, information about network attached storage at NCKTC, the cafeteria weekly menu and Monday morning memo was also published online.

All college desktop computer homepage’s were set to the NCKTC Intranet.
