Trouble joining a Campus, Campus Guests or a Dorms wireless
network? Internet Access DENIED?

If you are unable to successfully connect to (Campus), (Campus Guests) or any of the (Dorms) wireless networks, make sure you are using the correct network encryption level and correct security key, if one is required. Next, check the table below to see if your device (laptop, smartphone, tablet, etc.) is listed as being in violation of the NCK Tech’s – Wireless Network Use Agreement. If your device is listed below and you would like to be able to reconnect to (Campus), (Campus Guests) or one of the (Dorms) wireless networks again, contact the college’s IT staff who can inform you of what your violation was and ways to correct any violations. Once your device’s Wireless Network Agreement violation has been resolved successfully, your device will again be allowed to connect to (Campus), (Campus Guests) and one of the (Dorms) wireless networks.

Please note: If your device violates NCK Tech’s – Wireless Network Use Agreement a second time, your device will not be allowed to connect to (Campus), (Campus Guests) or any of the (Dorms) wireless networks for the remainder of the school year.

Alerts and Violations:

The following devices (clients) have been blocked from connecting to (Campus), (Campus Guests) or any of the (Dorms) wireless networks due to the violation(s) of NCK Tech’s – Wireless Network Use Agreement:

Blacklisted Status:

Prevented– First time violation of NCK Tech’s Information Systems Use Policy, blocked from connecting to (Campus), (Campus Guests) or any of the (Dorms) wireless networks until the offense is successfully resolved.
Warned – Device checked for offending software and verified that offending software has been removed, allowed back on (Campus), (Campus Guests) and the (Dorms) wireless networks.
Blocked – Repeat offender of NCK Tech’s Information Systems Use Policy, permanently blocked from connecting to (Campus), (Campus Guests) or any of the (Dorms) wireless networks for the remainder of the school year.
Banned – Repeat re-offender of NCK Tech’s Information Systems Use Policy with additional devices, permanently blocked from connecting to (Campus), (Campus Guests) or any of the (Dorms) wireless networks.

Violation examples:

(P2P) – Peer to Peer File Sharing applications – azureus, bittorrent, emule, frostwire, gnutella, limewire, etc…
(Spoofing) – Disguising or masquerading MAC address or SSID
(Terminal Services) – GoToMy PC, pcAnyWhere, Remote Desktop (RDC), TeamViewer, Telnet, VNC, etc…
(DDOS) – Distributed Denial of Service Attacks, FIN Flood, etc…
(Proxy) – Use of proxies as a means of bypassing website security and filtering.
(Pornography) – Repeated attempts to view pornography.
(Hacking) – Attempting to break into another persons devices security system to gain access to that system.
(Infections) – Device has malware, spyware or viruses.
(VPN’s) – Hexatech VPN

All computers listed in the table above are listed by their MAC address, since every computers MAC address is unique throughout the world.

• If you do not know the MAC address of your laptop, you may find it by opening a command prompt window, typing “ipconfig /all” without the quotation marks and press the enter or return key. It will be listed under your devices wireless adapter as the physical address.

** (Campus), (Campus Guests) or any of the (Dorms) wireless network users, if you are detected downloading any illegal media or using P2P software, file sharing software, remote control software, or if any malicious software is detected on your device; you will be denied access to the (Campus), (Campus Guests) and any of the (Dorms) wireless networks.  In addition, (Campus), (Campus Guests) or any of the (Dorms) wireless users violating this or any NCK Tech will be held liable and accountable for their actions and may face legal actions without prior notification.
