Fort Hays Tech | North Central 212° AWARD – – NOMINATION FORM
At 211 degrees water is hot, at 212 degrees it boils. One degree makes all the difference. The purpose of the 212° Award is to recognize individuals who demonstrate superior dedication and the willingness to go that extra degree! Recipients of this award will be employees who voluntarily go above and beyond the call of duty. They should demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to their profession, students, fellow employees, and a loyalty to the mission of Fort Hays Tech | North Central.
The award will be presented two times a year, during the Fall and Spring semesters. All full-time, part-time and adjunct employees with a clean personnel record are eligible.
NOMINATION PROCESS:
Any employee may nominate another employee by completing an 212° Award Nomination Form. Forms may be obtained from the intranet or Board Clerk. Submit nominations electronically or in paper form to Board Clerk prior to the deadline. The deadline for nominations for the Fall Semester is November 30 and for Spring is April 30.
The Board Clerk will review nominations and consult with the Dean and/or supervisor of the nominee to confirm the employee’s good standing and eligibility.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Nominations shall be reviewed by a committee of five employees. Initially, the committee shall be selected at random by the President. Thereafter, the last five currently employed recipients of the 212° Award will form the committee. The longest standing member shall become the chair for the next meeting and will be the contact person for the committee.
Nominees are to be judged on:
Proficiency of duties Attitude toward students Attitude toward fellow workers
Dependability Appearance Attitude toward visitors
Recipients of the 212° Award will have performed duties for the College that:
• are voluntary
• surpass the requirements of their job description
• is without expectation of compensation of time or money
• is within and/or outside of the scheduled duty day
All deliberations are to be held in strict confidence. Nominees will remain in the selection process for two consecutive semesters. Employees may be nominated more than once. Self-nominations will not be considered and those on the Selection Committee are not eligible to receive the award. A list of previous 212° Award recipients will be provided to the Selection Committee.
MEETING GUIDELINES:
The Selection Committee chair person will get the application packet from the Board Clerk. The Board Clerk will schedule a time and location for the Selection Committee to meet. The chair person will review the guidelines for the selection process. All candidates will be reviewed. Each member will vote for one candidate. In the case a member is absent, the chair person will contact that member and review the nominees and obtain their vote. In the case of a tie, the committee will meet to reach a consensus. The packet along with the name of the selected candidate will then be returned to the Board Clerk.
AWARD:
Recipients of the 212° Award will be honored by:
• Being presented a 212° Award trophy to commemorate the award.
• Having their name engraved on 212° Award plaque showing all previous recipients.
• Receiving a letter of commendation placed in their personnel file.
• Photo and news release will be sent to area media outlets i.e., newspaper(s) and radio station(s).
